Choices of how and where to spend your time and energy are plentiful. Parent, Teacher, and Student Associations were formed and are continued to be formed in order to create an opportunity for individuals from the school community to come together with focused efforts to build community, provide education, and advocate for the whole student and the whole student body. The choice is yours as to how you spend the finite resources of time and energy that you have. PTSAs are here to give you the choice to impact the success of every child in our community.
On a high school campus, PTSA focuses on three things:
providing educational opportunities through enriched experiences & bonus opportunities not otherwise available to the school community, and
advocacy opportunities and the school, district, community, state, and national levels continually seeking to support the whole student - mind, spirit, and body.
Traditionally beginning in 9th grade there are parent groups also on a high school campus focusing on funding student and staff needs in isolated spaces such as band, drill team, sports or theatre. These groups are necessary and without them, PTSA would be unable to make an impact.
The Williams HS PTSA is in urgent need of leadership for the 2019/2020 school year. PTSA is a large community in Plano ISD with opportunities to learn from local level leaders as well as many of the TX PTA leadership who live in nearby communities. No one ever leads alone and we invite you to make the choice to be part of every student’s success story by taking on a role in the PTSA at Williams HS. To express your interest in serving the students at Williams High school through PTSA leadership, please contact Kelley Thomas, firstname.lastname@example.org, by June 14.
In order to prepare best for the 2019/2020 school year, these key PTSA positions need to be filled:
Without PTSA leadership, the vital contributions of PTSA at Williams High School will not be felt. This would be a huge loss for the school and community and could potentially impact not only the current students at Williams but those who will soon be Williams Warriors. During the 2019/2020 school year, the following will not occur:
Homecoming – A schoolwide celebration of being a Williams Warrior funded and staffed by PTSA leadership and volunteers
Teacher Appreciation Events - Funded and coordinated by PTSA leadership and volunteers
Traditionally this includes:
Back to School lunch/breakfast
Winter Holiday Lunch
Valentine’s Death by Chocolate treats
Teacher Appreciation Week lunches and treats
Special School Wide Speakers focused on topics such as Grit, Self-Image, Bullying, and Digital Citizenship
Grade Level Speakers used during testing days by the administration to provide focused resources
Reflections Art Contest - National PTA Art program available to PTA/PTSA members/students of all needs and abilities
Teacher and School Grants
Gymnasium speakers systems
Funds for the updated courtyard, and
Several years worth of all biology students visiting Perot museum
Community Outreach – helping local families through identified programs (coat drive, books, binders, backpacks, etc)
We welcome any and all to participate in the Williams PTSA because it truly takes a village. Other official positions in the PTSA include Programs, Ways and Means, Hospitality, and the Social/Homecoming committee.
Success comes in all shapes and sizes. The beauty of PTSA is that we get to watch each and every student find their way to success through contributions made each year. The opportunity is now!
